    Is Juice Gluten Free?

by Ellen Allard on January 11, 2014 · 0 comments

One of the best ways to keep disease at bay is to include as many fruits and vegetables in your daily diet as possible. And one of the best ways to do that is to juice them. While you’re not getting the fiber, and this is a question I get asked a lot as a […]

I Love These Gluten Free Multi-Grain Pancakes!!!

by Ellen Allard on March 14, 2012 · 35 comments

Exceptionally delicious gluten free pancakes made by soaking 4 grains overnight and following a Nourishing Traditions (Sally Fallon) type recipe. These are definitely, by far, my most favorite gluten free pancakes thus far, and that’s after six years of experimenting with lots of different gluten free pancake recipes. These rocked my pancake world!

One of the hardest things about being diagnosed with Little did I know that it had nothing to do with quantity and everything to do with gluten. Oh well, those days are gone. I still have a pancakes, and hot cereal, and bagel. But lately, I’ve been obsessed with my Fruit Crumble, inspired by Mango […]

There’s nothing like a hearty breakfast to hold you through the morning. I’ve been eating this cereal for a few months now and absolutely love it. When I first found out I had Celiac Disease, I met with a nutritionist. She encouraged me to experiment with hearty grains like millet and quinoa. It took me […]

I have a new nickname. They call me the Mad Pancake Scientist. I have been experimenting for about two months, scaling the heights, looking for the perfect gluten free, dairy free pancake. I have thrown out more ingredients than you can shake a stick at. I have poured and mixed and blended and whisked and […]

Sensuous Vegan Vegetable and Bean Enchiladas. Heavenly. Every bite full of vegan cheesey and bean and potato and carrot goodness. The recipe comes from one of my newest (and already a favorite) cookbooks called The Whole Life Nutrition Cookbook by Alissa Segersten and Tom Malterre. On the front cover of the book it says “A […]

It has taken me 2 1/2 years of gluten free cooking and baking to feel brave enough to experiment with recipes in order to add my own personal stamp to them. Sometimes, the results go directly into the round file (read: trash!). But more often than not, the results are quite delicious. For example, last […]

    Smart Is As Smart Does

I’ve been trying to figure out how to reclaim breakfast as my favorite meal of the day AND still get the best bang for my buck when it comes to nutrition. I can safely say that this breakfast cereal is meeting my requirements. Where it lacks in crunch (usually an important criteria for my breakfast), […]

One of the best things about being Celiac (can you even believe I’m saying that?!?!) is that I’ve discovered grains I might never have discovered! I was first introduced to the idea of exploring alternative grains when I met with my nutritionist, right after I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. She highly recommended that I […]
